About The Role
To assist Bay building with continued growth, we are seeking an experienced estimator centrally located in Melbourne or inner metropolitan suburbs.
The Estimator is considered an integral role within the Bay Building direct (BAU) and Escape of liquid (EOL) departments and is required to estimate and deliver accurate budgets, quotes and cost estimates for small to medium insurance claims across both residential and commercial damaged properties.
Our estimators are generally first on site to assist our clients with damage and loss from insurance events. As such the role is critical in setting our insured’s expectations and "winning the customer".
The Estimator will oversee accurately preparing and submitting causation reports, quotations, budget estimates, and building repair scopes while collaborating closely with the Department Manager and the direct/EOL teams including project coordinators and supervisors, therefore it calls for a capable applicant with extensive knowledge of both construction and insurance industries. The position also involves some aspect of client relationship management will insurance assessors.
Tasks Include:
- Conducting site assessments to determine cause of damage, scope of works and costings
- Compile and deliver detailed scope of works
- Compile and deliver accurate budget breakdowns
- Complete accurate roof inspections utilising telescopic poles
- Liaise with contractors/suppliers to assist with quote requests and repair methodology
- Have a detailed understanding and experience in the construction process, critical inspection points, permit requirements and WHS requirements
- Determining policy coverage in accordance with client agreements
- Write scope of works and associated reports to KPI deadline
- Liaising with client, customer and Claims Coordinators with any SOW or report related queries
- Liaising with internal teams to book in trade attendances (subcontractors and/or specialists)
- Maintaining an awareness of SLA (service level agreement) and KPIs
- Conduct risk assessments on the potential high risk and hazardous components of each project
